Poker, wow that’s an interesting word for me. I was just thinking when I heard it, a big question arised in my mind, what the hell is this?

Now I am very much excited to know about it. I use to play cards with friends and family many times, but now the game of cards has taken a new avatar and come in front of me as a “POKER”. I never thought that we could ever play cards online no matter other players sitting way far away from us, that’s interesting.  

I use to wait for my friends to come to my hometown so that we can sit together and play cards.But now wherever they are, in any part of this world I can play cards with them…. Thanks to the online enviournment.

Technology keeps on changing and we are enjoying it so much.  The terms which we use in poker, many of them we also use in our daily life but we never thought how funny it can be.

Things to Remember While Playing Poker

I have been playing Texas Holdem Poker for alomost around 4 years now. For me playing poker is not only about winning money, it’s more about fun. I love the fact that you can sit at one place play with players across the borders.

While playing be careful with some of the players as they attempt to wind you up. This is a well known tactic which some online players use, to entice you into betting to try to knock them out of the game. My advice in this situation is to ignore these people and not to reply to their comments.

The turnaround of hands is a lot quicker than when you play in a casino or with your friends and it is wise to pick and choose carefully which hands you play and which hands you fold. It is very tempting to try to make something happen by betting on a hand which in reality I know I should throw away. This is a risky strategy and you need to be patient as your time will come.

Most of the people who make money are the ones who play with patience. A lot of people can easily get bored and can soon see their money or chips dwindle away.

In the periods of gloom where you are not being dealt the good cards, keep yourself amused by watching the television, listening to the radio or by chatting to the other players.

On some tables you will find there are over aggressive players who will bet on anything and also raise to stupid levels. These players may win a lot of chips in a short period of time, however in the long run will lose many a times. You have to stick to your game plan and not get frustrated by these types of players.

See it may look like an easy way to make money as eventually it will come unstuck, hopefully to you.

Poker can become quite addictive; therefore only bet what you can afford to lose. Play the game as a hobby and enjoy it, you are more likely to win with this attitude. I know people who attempt to win a certain amount of money per night and then go chasing this figure if they start to struggle. This in my opinion is not a good idea.

Be Carm, Stick to your plan and do not get influenced that’s my advice......

A Difference of perceptions

Glass Half empty/Half full???

Well its known world-wide. A professor enters his classroom with a glass filled midway with water and asks the 100 odd students a simple question “what do you see?” Some answer “Glass half full” others “glass half empty” some try smart comments like “why no beer!” but the general response is agreed on “the glass is half full “ or “the glass is half empty.”

It is said that if you look at the glass as “half full” you have a positive approach to life. You see the good things the stuff that can be of some value etc. If you see the glass as “half empty” you have a negative approach. You see things that are missing and in general are a “party pooper.”

But I have a question.

Are the above the only 2 options? Is it that you only look at the glass as half full and be satisfied? Is it that if you see the glass as half empty you have not achieved anything?

Lets go to history.

From the time of the Greeks the thought of “world domination” is... well... dominant. “The sun does not set on the Roman empire” is famous (Of course same was true for the British as well). With the rise of trade it’s now the economic dominance that’s come to the forefront. I myself had (still do) already created my dream company and already had an “empire”. We all in our lives have done at least in dreams. That is the key word “DREAMS”.

Why would I be satisfied with something that is “HALF?” Do I not see the empty space which can be filled? Do I not want the glass to be “FULL?” can I in reality achieve my dream by having “half!”. NO

That’s the bottom line. Its all good and nice to say stuff cuz it sounds good and is the “Right thought” but I ask you do the people who come in “Forbes list of Billionaires” look at the glass “half?” Of course not! Do you only look at the glass as half empty? How can you ever go ahead if you do not see the base you have created?

Both of the thoughts are missing a key element. The element of “Building on what you have.” You must always strive to make your glass full.

The glass is to be seen as both “half full and half empty.”

Half Full because you must see whether what base you have is good enough. If you “choose” not to look at it then you fail to see whether your efforts have the “Potential” to bear fruit.

Half empty because you must see the space to grow, to build as without it you can never be able to have your “dream” in “Reality”.

Think about it.

WHAT I AM LEARNING..

Poker is just one of the new things which I am learning and playing since few weeks and I am really enjoying this game..I am not lying. Every day I am learning something new related to it, it may be game rules, tournament rules or house rules. As every poker game has its own set of rules, house and tournament also have. Today I learned how to play Omaha after learning Texas Hold’em. It has almost similar game rules as Texas Hold’em has, like player has to make best five hands that means player with best hand cards wins which includes three out of five community cards and two hole cards. Main difference between Texas Hold’em and Omaha is that in prior only two face down Hole cards are dealt where as in Omaha instead of two, four face down Hole cards are dealt.

My Snowy

Yesterday my neice Read all of our blogs and she was too excited to write something on her own.This is what she wants to say to you all "Hello World. I am 6 yrs old girl, Gracie. I saw you all writing something here. So even i want to write something. I don’t know what to write.. i will tell you about my Snowy today. He is my Favorite,he is a dog.He is just too soft and white like real snow. He is almost same age of mine in fact he is few months elder to me. He is my best buddy.. Whenever I am alone he is with me. We both play together in the morning and before we sleep. He likes to sleep with me than with my elder sister , Mary. He loves me so much that he does not like even my mom and dad scolding me,he shows his aggressive reaction immediately. I love him so much... :) "

What happen if.......

    What does anyone do in their first day of the new job… specially if it’s your first job....You go through am orientation process where you are briefed about the company and the policies and the work profile…?You go through the basic training..?You are given some very basic documents related to your profile and asked to do analysis..?

    Well I did none of these… not even anything closely related to this….

In the first half in a very informal way we were introduced with the other new and existing members of our team… that was really an interesting session and a very entertaining one… never in college also we got introduced in such a fun and learning way… after that session I felt as if I everyone of there from quite a few days. No more team members

sounded like acquaintances, It was like getting to

know someone that otherwise would take you quite a few interactions.Then comes the most amazing part… the second half we were playing cards… yes we played POKER and were getting used to the poker lingo. Now that sounds interesting… isn’t it..? it’s like in automobile industry you are put through the practical part of your knowledge and here in the gaming industry you first learn to play it yourself….

Fraud scrub is a tool by which we can get something is fraud. The reason behind this is to take a first step for identifying fraud. Following are the preventive measures to minimize credit card fraud:
1] Geo location by IP address:
It provides geographic location by IP address.
2] Comparison of the IP address country with the billing addresses country:
Make sure these IP addresses are same.
E.g. If A is from USA billing and shipping addresses but A logged from Russia then it requires precaution.
3] Check whether the country is a “high risk” country:
High risk country: Ukraine, Indonesia, Egypt, Romania, Malaysia, Turkey, Lithuania, Tigoslavia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Israel.
4] Check whether the mailing address is a mailbox or ship forward service.
5] Check phone number is valid or not:
There are chances of mismatching between zip code and area code.
6] Compare the credit card issuing bank’s country with the billing address country.
7] Check whether an anonymous proxy server was used to place the order.
8] Call the credit card issuing bank to verify the validity of credit card.

Process of Chargeback

Following is the process of chargeback:

1] Shoppers get a problem in transaction at site
2] Shoppers inform their issuing bank & ask for money back.
3] Card issuer research to see if the shopper’s demand is reasonable or not. If demand is not reasonable, shopper will be responsible for payment.
4] If it is reasonable, the card issuer makes a provisional credit payment to the shopper.
5] Card issuer starts a special process called a chargeback & obtains funds from the acquiring bank that will debt the funds from you’re a/c in turn.
6] Acquiring bank sends a notification of chargeback & request for information to you.

Chargeback

Charge back is nothing but a return of funds to a customer. It is basically exists for customer protection. A customer may initiate a chargeback by contacting their issuing bank.

Following are the basic reasons for the chargeback:

 Technical: bank processing error
 Clerical: duplicate billing
 Quality: never receive services as per promised
 Fraud: identity theft


But the common reason for the chargeback is fraudulent transactions. It could be due to charged twice for a single transaction. The reason for chargeback could be due to dispute between issuer, merchant etc.

Extra Activities Also make us CONFIDENT

Our office conducts extra activities also like debate competition which is very interesting. Such competitions make us more active and fresh by which we learn how to present, act and communicate ourselves in front of public. Such activities also help to increase our confidence. The first debate competition was conducted when it was my 5th day in my office and after that competition I became more confident. I always remember my all college days at the time of such competitions and presentations :)

The most commonly played card games in the world. This game is usually played in a group of 3 or more people. The game is generally played where each players gets to draw 3 cards. However, there are several variations of the game where a player can draw more or less than 3 cards. The beauty of the game is lies with the ability of players to bluff the other players. The game started as a household game, but the game is now spread across & is now played at club houses too. This game gets people addicted to it as it involves money, each player puts in his share & the stake keep on increasing as the winner takes away all the money poured in during the game.

My first day at work

1^st Sep 2010,my 1^st day at work after a break of nearly 1 year.I was so thrilled to have this job & excited too,but still scared.However I was a bit nervous too. I was looking at busy faces around & this got a blank expression on my face,lots of questions in mind & dreams of aspiration & excitement. The 1^st hour at work was filled with mixed emotions for me.I wanted to talk a lot,wanted to ask a lot,infact wanted to contribute a lot but did not no how? Finally managing a smile just went straight to my Boss understood my job then went towards my colleage & learnt what & how they worked.By the end of the day,I was more confident than I was in the morning. So that’s how I ended my day with the a big smile on my face & great enthusiasm in me

I am lost

The deafening sound of alarm wakes me up every morning. Honestly speaking, I don’t need an alarm to wake me up, but my roomies do so. The first feeling I get as soon as I wake up is the feeling of being lost. I being to wonder what I have been doing over these years. Somehow I push myself to get on with the day. Most of the days, months & years of my have passed by in more or less same pattern. Everyday has been an attempt to juggle between commitments & promises made to family, friends, relatives and so on. And in all these years I have lost control of myself. Despite trying hard, we have never been able to control our life by ourselves. It has always been impacted by people around us, & mostly our close ones. But I have nonetheless tried to break this mould and give myself a chance to explore myself within. I am looking forward to find a new within me and find a way for myself dictated on my terms solely.

Learning

“Change is the only thing constant” is what people say, even I agree too it, but I believe there’s one more thing constant in our life & that is LEARNING. The source, nature & situation of learning may vary but the underlying fact that we are learning remains constant. Life as an aspect is nothing but a continuous phase of learning for all of us. More often than not we learn from our mistakes & experiences .However whenever we talk of learning, we tend to associate it with our studies during our school & college days, but that’s not the learning. Studies are just a means of preparing ourselves for the different learning’s we have to go through in our life. We can only be successful & happy in life if we are able to learn from the different situations that life throws at us. A good learning is therefore the key to our success……

Gold …

Gold may symbolize power, strength, wealth, warmth, happiness, love, hope, optimism, intelligence, justice, balance, perfection, summer, harvest and the sun. Gold represents great value. Respected people are treated with the most valued rule, the "golden rule". A company may give its most valued customers "gold cards" or make them "gold members". We value moments of peace and therefore we say: "silence is golden". Gold is further associated with the wisdom of aging and fruition. The fiftieth wedding anniversary is golden. Poker is the game of skill……….is right or wrong ,I think it is definitely game of skill. poker is game of skill that’s why two terms shark & fish came out. Shark are the player which play tight & aggressiveness. "These poker pros do not play many hands, but when they play them, they play them like they have the nuts."

That's a nice general description, but it doesn't say much. In my opinion, a solid poker player is one who has mastered the four key skill of poker. These four skills are mathematics, discipline, psychology & understanding risk vs reward.
Mathematical skill means that solid poker player have strong ability to understand probability of the poker game. For example, they know that you have about 1 in 8.5 chance of hitting a set when holding a pocket pair, and that you have about a 1 in 3 chance of completing a flopped flush draw by the river. Good players can figure out the pot odds.
Good poker players understand that a different game requires a different discipline
Good poker players demand an advantage. What separates a winning poker player from a fish is that a fish does not expect to win, while a poker player does. A fish is happy playing craps, roulette, or the slots; he just hopes to get lucky. A poker player does not hope to get lucky. He just hopes others don't get lucky. A disciplined player knows when to play and when to quit. A disciplined player knows that he is not perfect. When a disciplined player makes a mistake, he learns. He does not blame others. He does not cry. He learns from the mistake and moves on.
when a poker pro walks into a poker room, he always empathizes with his opponents. He tries to think what they think and understand the decisions they make and why they make them, that means skilled poker player understand psychology of its opponents & play according to that.
Skilled Poker players are willing to take a long-shot risk if the reward is high enough, but only if the expected return is higher than the risk. Good poker players understand they need to be more risk-averse with their overall bankroll than their stack at the table.
If any fish in poker game understands these four poker skills , he will not fish for longer time.

JUST A POKER

To start with POKER every person who is playing for the first time will definitely have a question in his/her mind what the hell is POKER!!! Because even I had the same question in my mind when I joined ABC Company which just started its new office in California. After being successful in gaming industry for last 3 years & which just started in year 2007. Hard to believe???

Poker is card game in which players bet that they hold the highest ranking hand. To get master in poker you need to know many things like game rules that is basically how to play a particular game as poker has many types like Texas Holdem, Omaha, 5 card stud and etc… and every game has its own rules. I have just started playing and it is going to take some time to master it as you get master with experience. So I need to wait…..

Never ignore small things

When I was doing my MBA we had a professor who always used to tell us to write a blog on a website created by him. At that time we used to say what is in it to write such blogs and we were just kept ignoring it and now in my office we all have to write blogs. So whenever I hear a word BLOG it just reminds me my professor.

We had a subject IT in which we learned all IP address, ORACLE and HTML programming languages, Microsoft Office etc. So at the time of practical we used to crack jokes, mocking and joking. But now in office we have to do all these things.

Such experiences always teach me that when we think that it is a very small thing we just ignore it but we never know when such a small thing will become a weapon to make us successful. :)

Internet a complex web of millions of computers has risen to such a status that it has tangled every aspect of our life in its web. When two computers trying to communicate with each other it is actually two persons trying to communicate with each other in a well defined medium. Internet has given a completely new meaning to a box shaped device called computers. Previously standalone computers serves no purpose other than storing the data and data itself gets limited to be used by that particular user. With the advent of internet computer gets a new dimension to be used as a communicating device along with storing and processing device. If Ann and John want to communicate with each other they have to bring their computers on the network. For this to happen their computers must possess NIC(Network interface card) which is inserted into hardware slot on the motherboard . It has got its own address called MAC ID ( Media access control ) address or Physical address. Other is the logical address which is called IP (Internet Protocol) given to individual users by ISP (Internet service Provider). IP is the language used by the devices on the internet to communicate with each other. When Ann wants to communicate with John data will be sent from Ann computer in the form of packets containing source address and destination address . The source address is the IP address of Ann’s computer and destination address is the IP address of John’s computer. IP address is the 32-bit address represented in dotted decimal notation.

The four nos. in an IP address are called octets and each octet represent 8 bits .Therefore IP is a 32 bit address.

Hey I ve sumthing very new n really quite interesting to write on …

On Saturday I had attended a gr8 session @ my office given by my boss really it was amazing, he had taught many new n precious things to all of us which is very valuable for all of us may be it seems this to me as it was my first time I ve attended that …. It was the completely knowledge sharing session I must say… I ve learned a lot about the reality, about the life about the individual perceptions n so many other things too… what I had learned n realized after that session that u should live your life with full of spirit n ofcoarse with the confidence that ye I can achieve whatever I can think n when I say ‘WATEVER’ it exactly means WATEVER… and to achieve this attitude following things are required…

CORRECT AIM / GOAL

CORRECT VISION TO UR GOAL

SELF DEPENDENCY

AND OFCOARSE CONFIDENCE TO ACHIEVE THAT…

I ve learned abt perception too… Everybody has their own perception. Perception is rather a complicated psychological concept, which means the process of gaining an understanding of sensory information. This means that we only perceive the things as we are taught from the beginning of our life. Reality Is Perception Human reality is full of physical objects but how humans perceive these objects is completely objective, depending on the person and their senses.

Choice is always yours!!!

I would like to share one of my incident with all of you. I got a call for an interview from Shanghai , China. I was offered very handsome amount of salary for that job & it was because of my dad I went there. I got that job after a long discussion with HR head. They were unable to decide in which field I should be placed. Finally they put me in finance department because I have done my MBA in finance & on top of that I was not able to take decision weather I should join or not. But finally I made up my mind and joined that company.

Now I want to tell you about my work. I maintain all reports related to their products and quote the rate of tenders. That was quite boring for me.:( that’s why I didn’t like that work. That day I talked to my father regarding my work & he knew that I am very adamant and furious about my likings.

It was not a bad offer for a fresher but at my home everyone was against me working for that company, except my MOM. She told me only one sentence “Baby! choice is yours”

After hearing this I got motivated, packed my luggage and took a ticket to my home town. Now I was at home. I was not able to speak to my parents. I thought that I was wrong in their point of view. My father asked me what was my choice? I told him that I want go back to Hong Kong where I completes my studies & I want work there. At the end he told me that you will be responsible for everything if something bad happens to you. It’s your wish either you make it or break it. He’s words dint hampper me because I have already made my choice. Then I took my baggage which was still packed. That day only I decided thatI would not do anything else apart from my interest.

I reached Hong Kong. My college friends were shocked when they heard that I left my previopus job because I was not interested in it . It was a dream job for some of them. They called me fool that time but dint change my decision. They all were actually giving me lectures “you should not leave that job” but I was clear with my choice, No one can change my decision. At the end of the day I will survive at any cost. After few days I got two job offers in first I was working as area executive and second one was cost accountant. I was running out of money so I took that job as a cost accountant. I did that job for 3 days & I came to know that it is not a field where I want to really work & I left that job without thinking about my next step. Then I got a call for an interview from XYZ company. This interview I will never forget. I will write about that afterwards.

One thing I learnt in this short period that let any circumstances come remember one thing “stand for yourself”. No one can play a better role than you in your life. It is your choice!!!Either you can make it or break it. End of the day choice is yours……

Girlsssss....... shopping can be DIFFICULT too…

It feels good to be called Employed. it is my first job, and my wardrobe has only 2 pairs of formal cloths… happy realization I need to shop.

Feeling like I’m attending some school and shopping for uniform and shoes and all which is totally different from the normal shopping… all these years in college never had a tough time shopping because it was always casuals. This seems to be a crazy thing to do. Whenever I find a formal dress I end up liking the dress just next to it. Which turns out to be a party wear… the same applies to foot wear.. I always want something that’s comfortable and not something in which you are expected to suffocate your feet’s for the full day. My eyes always tend to capture things that are comfortable and not so called formal. If this continues then surely I will never return home with what I had to buy. This also makes me wonder how difficult it is to buy something which is just your need of the moment and not really a want.

I wonder why is it always considered that wearing formals brings in seriousness in you… cant u be normal in casuals cloths and still be serious about your work… which theory says that only formal dressing can get the corporate seriousness in you. My belief says you can be at your best when you feel most comfortable. Don’t you agree this makes sense…?

Mind

The mean machine .Each one of us (human) is made up of three primary components viz body, mind & soul. The way we act, talk, walk, dress & so forth depends on how we use our body, mind & soul. Mind of all these three components is the most influential. What goes in our mind reflects on our body & soul. We have however always restricted our mind & in turn have restricted our thoughts. Most of the time we avoid auctioning our thoughts due to fear of the people what they will say. We therefore restricted ourselves from exploring different possibilities. But the mind is such a powerful tool. We have failed to realize its worth & so have been unable to achieve the possible, by constantly fooling our mind & believing that it’s impossible. We need to remove these negative thoughts of not being to achieve the possible. It’s only then that we can get a balance life & a perfect body with a divine soul.

Don’t think i can ever forget that day.When Michael Jackson passed on 25^th June2009, I was in my college and one of my friend called up and told me this “rumour”.I called up couple of my friends to confirm the news.I did not want to believe in that news . I shared the news with my college friends .they too did not want to believe. We did not want to attend further classes.that day we all could not concentrate on whatever was going. There will never ever be another Michael Jackson, and we were blessed to be able to see him at his peak. I felt like I lost someone very dear, a family member that day... “ENTERPRENEUR”

For me entrepreneur is a person who stands on his own feet, starts his own Venture/Business and runs it successfully. This is not enough if a person really wants to do something. There are three more important things for a person who really wants to become entrepreneur “Risk Bearer, organizer and innovator”

v  Risk without which we cannot do any work. We have to take the risk for moving ahead to start are own business. I think this is one step before reaching the success. We don’t know the future, we don’t know how things works but we can plan the future and go accordingly to make that thing or work successful. In this case a person has that ability to bear the risk.

v  Organizing is like taking different thing and set that according to our need.  You need to take care of your resources such as land to be purchased, skillful labor to be hired and Capital structure to start business and run accordingly. After taking these now organizing come in to picture how you manage all your resources. Resources are limited and needs to be organized and used to the best possible way

v  A person should know whats next?  This is just the beginning, the main work starts from here. Only you should know how to go ahead and the path of your journey. Apply your knowledge and work on that.

Neat & tidy

Oh God I can’t see this! This is my first reaction when I see someone’s untidy house. If you come to my house you will never see anything misplaced. I have allotted fixed place for each & everything at my place for example I keep all my stationary in my study table drawer, all jewelries in my dressing table drawer . You will never see these things at any other place except which are alloted to them. Even if you wake m e up from my deep sleep & ask where I have kept that particular thing I will able to tell you at that point also because it is my habit to keep things at right places I mean to say at their allotted places.

I feel irriated if someone take my things & doesn’t keep it at right place after use.It hardly takes any time to keep things at right place. It is has just become my daily routine to keep things neat & tidy.:)I feel happy when I see my house is sooooooooo cleanJ I feel like I am in heaven. I love my house...

Blackjack

Blackjack is one of most simpliest game to understand amongst the other card games. It had simple terms used to play.

Today i learned this new game called Blackjack. It was one of the fastest game i ever picked up. Very easy to understand and fun to play.

This game basically has the players against the dealer game. Each player will be dealt 2 cards, all facing up for the players and only onefaceup and other facedown card for the dealer. The goal of this game is to reach 21 or close to it. If you get over 21 ie Bust then you lose.

The Terms used in Blackjack are:

Hit - It means you ask the dealer to give you one more card, you can continue say ‘hit me’ until you reach 21 or close to it.

Stand- means you don’t want the dealer give you anymore card. You will stand with your card you hold.

Bust - means your card is over 21. You will lose your bet on the table.

Double Down - means you can double your bet in order to claim more money. You can do this if you are sure your card is good enough to win. The dealer will give you one more card and that’s it and you cannot ask for more cards.

Split - means you can have two different hands for your card, players usually have this if they have the same identical cards or cards with the same value. It is also means you have to bet for every hand you have there.

Insurance - means an option given by the dealer for the players to have their full bet back if the dealer has 21 and showing an ace in the table. But, if the dealer doesn’t have a blackjack then you will lose your insurance amount as well.

Isn't that so easy... Its real fun playing this game.
